LOS ANGELES, CA - On Saturday, October 8, 2005, West L.A. Music and Zildjian presented the “Mission from Gadd” clinic with Steve Gadd, the legendary drummer who has played with many of the biggest acts in recording history, including James Taylor, Paul Simon, Chick Corea and Eric Clapton.

The daylong event featured product presentations by Zildjian specialists, a prototype cymbal sale and a two-hour meet and greet with Steve Gadd, where he generously signed hundreds of autographs and took pictures with fans.

With a thousand people in attendance, Steve Gadd was welcomed to the stage with a standing ovation. After his brief but impressive performance, a slightly winded Gadd took a moment to address the audience and thank the musicians that had influenced his career. He then spent over an hour answering questions, discussing his technique and use of Zildjian cymbals, his approach to writing music, his spiritual connection with the audience and his experiences in the studio and on tour. Gadd also gave examples of his legendary style, as a mesmerized and attentive crowd watched him perform a 12/8 tribal-influenced piece, using two Steve Gadd signature drum sticks in each hand.

At the end of the event, West L.A. Music awarded two contest participants with a copy of Steve Gadd’s Drummer’s Achievement Award DVD and one lucky winner an 18” Zildjian K-Custom session cymbal crash.
