West L.A. Music Donates Guitars to Santa Monica Schools
West L.A. Music donated two autographed Fender Stratocaster guitars to the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District.
The donation supports the Artists For The Arts Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping public school districts create and sustain Arts Programs.
Auctioned off during a concert at Barnum Hall on the Santa Monica High School campus, the guitars, autographed by the performing artists, raised $4,750 for the schools.
The concert featured the band Venice, who performed for the 7th consecutive year, in support of the arts. The band consists of members of the Lennon family including Kipp, Mark, Michael and Pat. Other featured performers included acclaimed recording artist, Colin Hay, vocalist and guitarist for “Men At Work”, Curt Smith, lead vocalist on numerous hits with “Tears For Fears,” and Fee Waybill, the iconic lead singer and front man for the seminal 70’s rock band “The Tubes.” Several songs performed during the concert also featured student musicians from Santa Monica and Malibu schools.
West L.A. Music has been a long time supporter of the Santa Monica and Malibu schools, donating autographed guitars for the past several years, including guitars signed by Jackson Browne and David Crosby.
