TODD-AO Installs Solid State Logic XLogic Delta-Links

SSL XLogic Delta Link

Hollywood, CA (January 11, 2008)--Todd-AO has installed 19 Solid State Logic XLogic Delta-Link systems, purchased from West LA Music, in facilities nationwide. The systems streamline the transfer of digital audio information between MADI-enabled devices and Pro Tools|HD systems.

"We purchased the Delta Link because it allows us to directly interface Pro Tools HD systems into our large-scale digital consoles that we use for post production dubbing in TV and feature film," says Bill Johnston, senior VP of engineering, Todd-AO, which is part of Ascent Media's Creative Sound Services group. "Purchasing an SSL MADI interface alleviates us from having to purchase an AES I/O for both the console and the Pro Tools system and that saves us on both installation and overall costs."

Several feature films, including The Bourne Ultimatum, Sweeney Todd, Charlie Wilson's War, American Gangster, SuperBad, The Bucket List and P.S. I Love You have used the Delta-Link installation. TV shows utilizing the Delta-Link include Cold Case, Prison Break and The Bionic Woman.

"The Delta-Link is simplicity itself as there is only a single rack space unit that directly interfaces with my console router," explains Johnston. "All I need is two MADI BNC cables and word clock and I'm done. We are installing the units in installations that only require fixed sample rates. Basically, we have been using them for over four months now and we haven't encountered any problems. The Delta-Link is the perfect system for our needs."

Further installations of the Delta-Link systems have taken place at Sound One in New York City and in POP Sound, all part of the Ascent Media Creative Sound Services family of companies.
