The World Beat Rhythms performance/clinic features critically acclaimed drummers, composers, educators, and authors Ed Roscetti & Maria Martinez. They will perform using drum set and a variety of traditional hand drums and cover a variety of traditional and hybrid styles. This will give the attendees a better understanding about technique, time feel, rhythmic phrasing, song form, improvisation and leading an ensemble. The hands on approach will provide an excellent opportunity for students, professionals, educators and hobbyist of all ages to come together & focus on communication through the language of the drum.

Ed Roscetti Ed Roscetti: Originally from Niagara Falls, New York, Ed is a drummer, composer, educator, author and clinician who has lived and worked in Los Angeles since 1979. His critically praised Hal Leonard book/CD, "Drummers Guide to Odd Meters," was chosen as the number two method book in Drum Magazine's 2001 readers poll. He is the author of "Blues Drumming" book/CD package (2002) & "Funk & Hip Hop Drumming" book/CD package (2003) Hal Leonard. Ed is also co-founder and author of the WBR Beyond the Drum Circle book/CD series, "WBR Goes to Brazil," "WBR Goes to Africa" and "WBR Goes to Cuba" (2003) Hal Leonard. He has worked with Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock & Joe Sample amongst others.
Maria Martinez Maria Martinez: Maria is the author of "Brazilian Coordination for Drumset" (Book/CD, Video), "Afro-Cuban Coordination for Drumset" (Book/CD, Video) and "The Instant Guide to Drum Grooves" (Book/CD) Hal Leonard. Her performance credits include Barry White, Rita Coolidge, Angela Bofill, El Chicano among others. Maria is also co-founder and author of the WBR Beyond the Drum Circle book/CD series, "WBR Goes to Brazil," "WBR Goes to Africa" and "WBR Goes to Cuba" (2003) Hal Leonard.
