West L.A. Music will host a free Cubase 5.0 Clinic showcasing the new features of Steinberg's popular Cubase VST software as well as their VST instrument synthesizers at both locations. Steinberg Product Specialist, Mike Richardson, will be on hand to demonstrate the enhancements of the 5.0 upgrade to Cubase VST.

Cubase VST/32 is a complete professional music recording, editing and notation system for your personal computer. It combines high resolution MIDI recording with audio recording in either 16, 24 or 32 bit overload free formats. Cubase VST/32 also offers the world's largest range of add-on realtime audio effects using VST plug-ins. Steinberg's Cubase VST/32 5.0 was recently awarded a prestigious excellent four-star rating in the November, 2000 issue of Macworld Magazine for its enhanced features and user interface.

Some of the new features Richardson will present at the clinic include, Steinberg's True Tape Technology, the addition of Apogee's UV-22® dithering algorithm, Increased MIDI recording resolution, increased audio effects and also the integration of Steinberg's VST instrument synthesizers.

The new True Tape Technology allows users to simulate the effect of tape saturation when recording in 32-bit mode. Richardson will show how version 5.0 can capture that "True Analog Sound" by accurately modeling the magnetic tape transfer process.

CD mastering has been improved by the addition of Apogee's UV-22® dithering algorithm, optimizing the reduction of the number of bits needed for CD quality sound. Richardson will demonstrate how to use this new feature in Cubase's expanded mastering tools, Prepare to Burn software.

Richardson will also showcase the expanded MIDI recording resolution features of LTB High Definition MIDI-Timing. Cubase VST 5.0 now includes LTB (Linear Time Base) MIDI transmission protocol technology, so that MIDI timing of every event leaving a MIDI interface can be guaranteed to sub-milli-second precision.

Learn how to use VST virtual instruments and synthesizers to compose and edit tracks directly in the Cubase VST environment. Richardson will be demonstrating the Waldorf PPG Wave 2.V VST plug-in, the classic wavetable synthesizer, and Native Instruments' famed B-4 Virtual Synthesizer plug-in.

Guests will have the opportunity to register to win either a PPG Wave 2.V VST plug-in or B-4 Virtual Synthesizer plug-in. Each plug-in has a $199 retail value.
